Why "Joy"

Joy is a choice you make each and every day! Joy is a gift from our Heavenly Father! It is your weapon! When you smile at someone...they smile back. When you laugh...others will laugh with you. When you think happy thoughts...you feel better. Come on...Do some "Joy" things...kick the devil where it hurts! Defeat him!! Psalm 28:7 "The Joy of the Lord is my Strength and my Shield, my heart trusts in Him and He helps me. My heart leaps for Joy, and with my song I praise Him"

AS Chalk Paint Hutch

Found this piece at an estate sale...has such great bones...and great detail!

 The top....turned upside down

I used Annie Sloan Old Ochre and a touch of Old White....just love that paint!

Finished and for sale!!  Surely wanted to keep this one!!

Hope Chest

This is my hope chest that my Mom bought me when I was a teenager...
I've always loved it!  But...time for a makeover!
(I'd given it to my daughter..she decided she didn't want it anymore)

Filling in all the holes from the cushion that was on top...

almost there....
Whala~! I love it! and yep....she wants it back now! Ha!

Shabby "Country French" Night Stand

This nightstand was a gift from my friend "Debbie"...thank you!
Got it home...sanded lightly all over...

Painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint "Old White" and distressed all over..turned out too cute...but I thought maybe I could add one more thing...so...

I decided to stencil some detail around the edges...I hope you can see this...
also did this all around the top of the night stand...(sorry forgot to take that pic..ugh)..
the handles are from my fav Hobby Lobby...
Hope you like it too!!
(Click on the picture and it will become larger)

My take on a Shabby Modern Dresser

This is the dresser that matched the metallic nightstand I did earlier...I just couldn't bring myself to paint with metallic paint again...maybe I can blame it on the Heat?!

It's rather difficult for me to not "shabby" a piece of furniture...so the edges are very slightly distressed. It is really pretty...hope someone likes it soon.
I painted this with "Old White" Annie Sloan Chalk Paint..slightly sanded then added Old White mixed with Valspar Glaze...let that dry over night...then used Howard's Wax...Love love love that stuff!

My Very First Table and Chairs

I bought this table before I knew anything about much...especially blogging.  Had lots of wood filler added to the damaged top...but such cool detail.
Check out the claw feet...yum!
Yes Yes...these are the chairs.....I know...
I had to break out the 409 and the scrub brush...can you believe how dirty?!
Lots of love went into these pieces
I didn't get a pic of all the chairs...Had 2 of each...
they were the kind of chairs you don't find every day...very sturdy!

I was so proud of this piece...so many hours spent on it while learning..
I only pray the people who bought this love it as much as I did.
If you click on the pic it will appear bigger so you can see more.
Hope you like it too!
You can tell my booth was brand new...not a whole lot of stuff yet..ha!

Chalk Paint "Antibes Green" Desk

Bought this lovely piece at my local thrift store...had to do some small repairs...
tightening bolts kind of thing..

Had bought this chair at a garage sale...thought they looked great together...
very shabby
sold quickly!  Yea!!

Chalk Paint Dresser

I know...no drawers right....

Here they are...LOL!  I promise the next piece WILL have the drawers before I take the Pic!

Almost there....

Ok....Love Love the detail on this dresser.  Love the great handles too!!
Hope you love it too!

4 Drawer Chest Re-do

These  before pics are of course, without the drawers.....for some reason I just can't seem to remember to tak the pic "before" I take them out.  I get so excited to get home and get started...ugh!

Sorry it's not the best of pictures...I couldn't quite decide about the handles...thought about these really cool antique knobs -with a touch a green- for the top drawer...hmm..I don't think so...

This is the end result....I know I have to get better at taking pics...but can you see the small knobs at the top....a pull out!! Too Cool!....I waxed with clear Min-wax...turned out great...gosh if I'd had a place to put these I might've had to keep them...Sold! Yea!!

Headboard Redo

I bought this Queen Headboard at a garage sale for $10.  You can see that someone had spray painted it black...lots of ugly runs...but great potential.

Here is the after picture....I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint...Old Ochre and Country Grey...sanded some of the edges so the black would show.
This is the foot board....still haven't decided if I am going to paint this...am afraid it may make my bedroom look much smaller.  Hmmm???

If you look close, you can see that I stenciled a fleur de lis..  I like it!  Am on the hunt for a darker bedspread...don't you think it would look better?

Round Coffee Table

I bought this coffee table at one of my fav thrift stores...it used to be a dining room table and someone had cut it down to be a coffee table.  It had such cuteness...I just had to have it!  I painted the top black and shabby'd the bottom and edges with antique white paint...I always get my paint at Home Depot and have many favorite's...this one is Behr  "Antique White".  Don't ask for black paint ...you know how many colors of "black" paint there are???   Nauseating!!  Sure am thankful for my Home Depot Man...he's know's his stuff!  This one sold really quick...Yea!!

Metallic 2 Drawer Chest

I have to admit...painting with metallic almost got me!  It was difficult for me to make it look really smooth...but after what seemed like hours...it finally worked.  I used Rust-oleum Painter's touch Metallic paint in Oil Rubbed Bronze...absolutely beautiful paint for sure!  I taped off the drawers and used Valspar Metallic Spray Paint.  I love this piece...but it hasn't sold yet.  I'm kinda bummed about that.  I have a matching dresser that I'm still deciding what to do...gosh...just can't bring myself to break out the metallic paint for a big dresser..ugh!  Maybe I'll decide soon....hmmm

Crackle Dresser

These are the drawers before anything was done....sorry forgot to take a pic of the base before
I painted everything a soft grey color....naaa...didn't like it..so painted it all black...
I used my blue painters tape and taped all around the edge...you can see the width ..using the edge of my dresser to make sure all lines were straight...then I painted the crackle in the middle....waited til it dried...painted the middle Antique White....You have to really be careful when you paint over crackle...you must make sure you go over it only one time....the crackle will pick up if you go over and over as you normally would paint....you don't want to start this project over..so it is wise to practice on something before starting.
You can see I did the same to the drawer fronts....
I sponged paint over the black edges with Colonial Red...let it dry...then used the end of a sponge to just sponge paint the black ...needing to cover the lines between the Antique White and the Red....wish the picture was better....but it actually looked pretty cool.  You could use anything to do this with...I almost just used my finger...and painted it silver....but opted to keep with the red and black theme..
All the original hardware was still on this dresser...so I just cleaned it really good...I usually use a brush and soap and water....dry it really well....spray it with a metal primer...then sprayed with Black spray paint....let it dry for several days....I loved this piece and was so grateful when it sold.  I surely hope whomever has this loves it too.  I need to do another soon...hmmm....maybe soon..

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Claw Foot Desk

You just had to see the "before" on the desk...I was driving by a garage/estate sale and saw this desk sitting outside and almost caused a wreck turning around...Literally ran out of my car so no one would beat me to it..Almost cried when I saw it was missing a leg...(sigh)...walked on in to see what else I might could find...happen to mention to the man that I loved the claw foot desk, "just wish it had all the legs"..drum roll please.....He said "Oh, it's in the drawer!"...I screamed...(really I did)...ran back outside and yes...there it was....little ole leg saying "hello"  ha!  I'd never paid this much for any piece I've done before..but I just had to have it!  After an extreme amount of work...hope you like it...

I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint .."Graphite" waxed with Clear Minwax  - added Ebony Briewax...
lots and lots of loving went into this piece!!
I absolutely LOVE  Annie Sloan Chalk Paint!!
Yes...I realize now I must work on looking for a new camera..  I so hope it sells soon and can make someone very happy!  Don't ya just love the detail!...I lined all the drawers and they looked so pretty.  I just forgot to take a pic..sorry.  It certainly still has some flaws but that's what makes it so special...all the bumps and bruises we get...just make us stronger!
